We are thrilled to announce that over the past two weeks, our team members have made significant strides in filming the project “The Electric City: Nikola Tesla in Canada,” under the expert guidance of the acclaimed documentary film producer Felix Golubev (@golubev.felix).

On July 12, the first shoot began at 6 am. Our team was fortunate to receive permission to film in a unique museum housed in one of the first hydroelectric power stations in Niagara, constructed with Tesla’s technology at the beginning of the twentieth century. Filming concluded at 10 am, just as the museum opened to visitors.

We had the rare opportunity to capture the operation of a giant Tesla coil, explore a vast tunnel on the -6th floor, and exit through it to the very foot of the waterfall.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Sarah Wood, Senior Manager of Niagara Park Commissions, and Mr. Veroslav Djurdjevic, President of the Nikola Tesla Educational Corporation, for their invaluable help and support.

Our ECG Productions team in Ukraine captured powerful moments during their visit to the village of Podgorye. This place, marked by a tumultuous history, offers a breathtaking view from the hilltop overlooking the valley. In the summer of 1944, a group of soldiers from the Galicia Division were executed by the NKVD here. Most of their names remain unknown. During Soviet times, there were no monuments, but the people remembered. Today, Ukraine is restoring its history.

Podgorye is also significant for the events of 1924, when Sich Riflemen of the Ukrainian Galician Army perished at the hands of Poles. Mikhail Bendyuk, whose family has both victims and perpetrators of these past conflicts, believes that reconciliation is possible through mutual apologies. He said, “I forgive them for burning my grandmother and grandfather alive with their children—my mother’s family, leaving her, a three-year-old, orphaned. She survived by sheer chance, being in a neighbor’s yard. And I ask forgiveness from the Poles for my uncle burning a Polish village in retaliation, killing those who refused to leave their homes. It no longer matters who started it or why. It is all cruel and unjust.”

These images serve as a testament to the resilience and efforts to remember and heal past wounds, as Ukraine rebuilds its historical narrative.

Renowned for his masterpieces such as the portrait of Maya Plisetskaya housed within the esteemed St. Petersburg Theater Museum, Chapiro’s oeuvre spans a diverse spectrum of styles, ranging from picturesque landscapes to evocative abstractions.

From Sunday September 25th till Tuesday September 27th the Jewish people all over the world are celebrating Rosh Hashanah, also known as the Jewish New Year. One of the attributes of this holiday is shofar, a Jewish ritual wind instrument, made from a horn. Its sounds are usually interpreted as a call to repentance. According to an ancient tradition, when celebrating Rosh Hashanah, people dip bread (challah) and apples in honey and wish each other a sweet new year. Today you can watch a few episodes dedicated to the Jewish music and cuisine. Dance, eat, drink and celebrate Rosh Hashanah, 5783 year.

Mila from Toronto has a huge collection of figurines of ladybugs. She collected more than 600 items from all over the world. There are dolls, toys, brooches and even ladybug-shaped coins from different countries in her collection.

“For me, ladybugs are associated with kindness and happy moments. It is no coincidence that it is believed to be a symbol of joy and luck in many countries. I wish I could open a small museum or a cafe, where everyone could see all my collectibles”- says Mila.

Watch a new episode of the Sounds of Canada project dedicated to the music from Madagascar. Donne Roberts Band was founded by Afro-Canadian musician, singer and composer Donne Roberts who has a unique life story. He was born on Madagascar, raised in Moscow, Russia (back then Soviet Union) where his parents worked as diplomats, and for the last 25 years he has been living in Canada.He is a 2-time Juno Award winner and 4-time nominee. He writes and performs songs in a dozen languages, including Japanese, and he is a highly skilled professional guitar player. That is why we invited him to take part in the third season of the Sounds of Canada project with his own group, the Donne Roberts Band.
