 Continuing the Journey with Virsky: A Masterclass in DedicationÂ
Under the guidance of producer Felix Golubev (@golubev.felix), our team had the incredible opportunity to delve deeper into the world of the Virsky Dance Ensemble. One such highlight was the Virsky Masterclass held at the Ukrainian National Federation (UNF) in Toronto, Ontario, and Edmonton, Calgary. This year, for the second time, performers from the Virsky Ensemble shared their expertise with teens and adults who are passionately inspired by the Ukrainian National Folk Dance Ensemble. The spirit of Virsky is truly alive in these individuals.
We had the privilege of hearing from two remarkable voices in this journey:
- Victoria Karpenko – A current dancer in the Ukrainian National Folk Dance Ensemble, Victoria takes immense pride in representing Ukrainian culture through dance. She hopes that future generations of dancers will continue to carry forward the spirit of Virsky and the cultural heritage of Ukraine.
- Yulia Kalujniak – A dedicated student at Virsky Studio, Yulia practices six to eight hours daily with the dream of joining the Virsky Ensemble. Her dedication to Ukrainian dance, rigorous work ethic, and unwavering spirit, especially during this time of war, make her a truly remarkable performer.
Becoming and living life as a member of the Virsky Ensemble is a journey of hard work and relentless practice. There is no room for self-pity, only a steadfast commitment to using one’s talent to present Ukrainian culture to the world in the most inspiring way possible.
