Filming Progress Update: Nation’s Memory on the Artist’s Palette We are thrilled to share that over the past three weeks, our team, led by Anastasiia Mateshko, has made incredible progress on our project “Nation’s Memory on the Artist’s Palette” and is now on the verge of completing the filming process. One of the highlights has been the opportunity to meet and film the renowned Ukrainian sculptor, Oleh Lesiuk, at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Church.
Oleh Lesiuk, head of the Ukrainian Artists Union of Canada (USOM), is not only a masterful sculptor but also a passionate contributor to the artistic decoration of the churches he attends. Standing proudly in front of one such church is his powerful work—a sculptural composition titled “Memory of the Nation,” a monument dedicated to key moments in Ukrainian history and culture.
Lesiuk’s artistic contributions extend to the exterior walls, where he has created intricate reliefs depicting scenes from the life of Saint Joseph. Inside the church, his craftsmanship continues with the iconostasis, frieze, and ongoing work on the interior walls. These masterpieces reflect his extraordinary skill and deep connection to Ukrainian heritage and spiritual traditions.
