Exciting Update from ECG Productions! 

Our talented team has been hard at work filming for our project, “Nation’s Memory on the Artist’s Palette,” directed by the brilliant Anastasiia Mateshko. In these behind-the-scenes photos, you can see Anastasiia deeply immersed in her work, capturing the essence of the beautiful landscapes of the Ukrainian country club “Poltava” alongside the artists of the Ukrainian Association of Visual Artists of Canada (USOM).

On June 15, 2024, our team experienced a day full of creativity and inspiration, painting en plein air and soaking in the serene atmosphere. The camaraderie and artistic energy in the air were truly palpable, making it a memorable day for everyone involved.

Continuing our cinematic journey with the ECG Productions team, under the expert direction of our esteemed colleague, Anastasiia Mateshko, as we pay homage to the enduring legacy of Ukrainian Canadian artists in Canada. We meticulously document the monumental masterpiece, “Пам’ять нації” (“Memory of the Nation”), created by Oleh Lesiuk, against the backdrop of the revered St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. Additionally, we delve into the artistic process within Lesiuk’s studio, capturing the intricate craftsmanship as he molds a bas-relief from raw materials, transforming clay into timeless artistry.

ECG Productions team is continuing its work on the project “The Nation’s Memory on the Artist’s Palette” directed by Anastasia Mateshko. Last week, as the Easter holidays were approaching, our film crew met with Natalia Valenyuk near the Church of Saint Demetrius the Great Martyr, which belongs to the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy. At the entrance to the church, there stands a human-size Easter egg fully assembled and decorated in Natalia Valenyuk Art School. It flashes with bright colors and bears traditional Ukrainian ornaments. Its beauty is there for all Torontonian passers-by to see and get into the holiday spirit. Happy Easter Everyone!

Our team is continuing its work on the project “Nation’s Memory on the Artist’s Palette” directed by Anastasiia Mateshko. Last week our film crew visited the workshop of the Ukrainian artist Oleh Lesiuk where he kindly demonstrated to us his current project – the painting of iconostasis.

Oleh Lesiuk was born in 1959 in Lviv and moved to Canada in 1992. He graduated with honors from the Lviv State Institute of Applied & Decorative Arts (1981) and taught sculpture at the Trush College of Applied Art (1982-1992). Oleh works in the studio and monumental sculpture and murals. Throughout his artistic journey, he has created monuments, parks sculptures, murals, and memorial plaques. Since 1980, Oleh Lesiuk participated in group exhibits in Ukraine, Russia, Italy, the USA, and Canada and organized 3 wood sculpture symposiums. He received many awards including the Medal of the Ukrainian World Congress commemorating Shevchenko’s birth (2015). Member: Artists’ Union of Ukraine, Sculptors’ Society of Canada, USOM (pres. from 2007), KUMF (vice-pres. & chair of Art Committee), Culture Council of Ukrainian World Congress, Arts Council of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.
