Did you know that Thanksgiving Day is celebrated only in two countries – the United States and Canada? This holiday appeared thanks to the first English settlers, who moored on November 21, 1620 on the Mayflower ship to the shores of the North America. Thanksgiving Day is celebrated with relatives and closest friends. The holiday dinner usually consists of baked turkey in cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. The celebration has its own traditional drink – apple cider. But you can also surprise your guests with some exotic dishes. From Sunday September 25th till Tuesday September 27th the Jewish people all over the world are celebrating Rosh Hashanah, also known as the Jewish New Year. One of the attributes of this holiday is shofar, a Jewish ritual wind instrument, made from a horn. Its sounds are usually interpreted as a call to repentance. According to an ancient tradition, when celebrating Rosh Hashanah, people dip bread (challah) and apples in honey and wish each other a sweet new year. Today you can watch a few episodes dedicated to the Jewish music and cuisine. Dance, eat, drink and celebrate Rosh Hashanah, 5783 year.
