Last week, our film crew visited the Turkish city of Bodrum, where fate threw Scott and Anna, the central figures of our documentary film “Him, Her and a War”. We have been following the life of this wonderful couple for several years now. The movie was expected to come out light-hearted and romantic about how during his return trip to native Halifax, a Canadian Scott has a small one-day layover in Kyiv, meets there Anna – and then stays in Ukraine for the next two years. This should have been a story about how Anna introduces Scott unknown to him Ukrainian traditions, and how he finds himself falling in love with all his heart not only with the woman of his dream but also with the mysterious and full-of-surprises country of Ukraine. And so this romance would happily evolve, but then the war started…
