The memories of Dmitry Synytsia, who was born in a prison hospital in Vorkuta, Komi ASSR, on March 13, 1956. His life has been marked by the heavy legacy of Soviet repressions: his father, as a teenager, ended up in Stalin’s camps for his involvement with the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) and witnessed the camp uprising in the spring of 1953. He often told Dmitry that his real birthday was March 5, 1953, the day Stalin died.
