The premiere of our film “To Warn the West” will air on the TV channel Dozhd (TV Rain)
on February 22 at 8:10 PM.
In April of last year, a private screening of the film took place in Toronto. At the time, we did not publish photos or publicly announce the event — we were anticipating festival momentum around the film.
Now it is time for the wider audience.
“Warning the West” is not only the story of Igor Gouzenko, the man whose decision in 1945 reshaped the political landscape of the postwar world.
It is the story of a family that spent many years living in the shadow of that decision.
After handing over documents to Western authorities, the lives of Gouzenko and his loved ones changed forever.
A hidden life under protection. New identities. Isolation. A constant sense of threat.
Children raised in an atmosphere of secrecy. A family that paid a personal price for a historic choice.
At the heart of the film is the human dimension of history:
What does it mean to stand beside someone who once said “no” to a system?
How do those live who become part of global politics against their will?
Is it possible to remain yourself when your fate becomes a state secret?
Today, this story resonates as a warning — and as a reminder that behind every political event stand real people and real lives.
At the private Toronto screening were Igor Gouzenko’s daughters, including #EveWilson, historian #LeonidTrofimov, and the film crew:
#DmitryZhukovsky, #AnatoliyMateshko, #ArtemBorodin, #OleksiyBuyanov, #VladimirStrungar, #MiroslavDelev, #OlgaAntimony, and #AllaLoseva.
And of course, our executive producer — #GregoryAntimony.
For us, this is an important conversation — about choice, about the price of freedom, and about the fate of a family caught in the currents of history.
Watch on February 22 at 8:10 PM on Dozhd (TV Rain).
