At the end of last year, one of the ECG Productions projects “On the Waves of Ukrainian Music” won two awards at once at the prestigious Ukrainian festival ONYKO Films Awards. The documentary received awards in two categories: The Best Documentary and The Best Costumes. Film director Olena Tumanska talked to the Festival representative about what inspired her to make this documentary and also shared her creative plans. Our one of the most prominent shows “Taste the Diversity” (Director – Olena Tumanska) and the episode about the Portuguese cuisine was recognized as the best documentary from America at the Best Film Awards festival.
This is not the only good news, another documentary that ECG Productions produced “The Wind breathes where he wills” (Director – Olga Antimony) has been selected as an honorable mention in the festival – Tokyo Film Awards.

Congratulations to the ECG Productions team and Film Director Marina Dessiatkina who worked on the documentary project  Luc: Between Darkness and Light  for winning the Best Documentary at the Open Window International Film Challenge.

This character-driven documentary follows internationally-known artist Luc Bihan who, burned out at midlife, seeks to rekindle his creativity while supervising his thriving Toronto art school.

Luc has a talent for anything he puts his hands on – sculpting, painting, managing and operating his own art school that in 13 years has become home for many other artists who teach art, from Sumi-e, to drawing, to painting, to pottery, to drumming, thus making many people happier in life by helping them discover their “inner artist” and learn various art techniques.

Luc immigrated to Canada from Europe 20 years ago, and now he finds himself leading a bohemian, but busy life that for many seems like a ‘dream come true’. However, despite his success, Luc has found himself stuck. His inability to create indicates that his life has gone in a wrong direction. What is creativity and where is it coming from?

Luc: Between Darkness and Light will explore whether the artist will be able to achieve stillness and energy to create again.

Each episode is dedicated to a true story told by an immigrant woman living in Canada. Their stories are about struggles and victories, joys and sorrows and, of course, true love. Congratulations to the ECG Productions team who worked on the Sounds of Quebec episode, Sounds of Canada project for winning the Best Documentary Music Video at the International Music Video Awards.

Sounds of Quebec episode features the award-winning and highly acclaimed band Le Vent du Nord is a leading force in Quebec’s progressive francophone folk movement. In this documentary, the musicians will take you on an incredible journey to their studio to show you a behind-the-scenes look at their working process, and to Montreal for their new album launch performance. This film combines unique Québec traditional music and winter.

We are happy to announce that our two films have been selected to compete in prestigious international film festivals. On November 3, 2021 we will find out if the documentary Sounds of Quebec (Director: Irina Volkova) will receive the International Music Video Award. And on November 28, 2021 the documentary Boris Volkoff – the Russian Father of the Canadian Ballet (Director: Maksim Kravchinskii) will take part in the competition program at the Golden Unicorn Awards & Russian Film Week.
