Why? It may give a new dimension to the story seen on-screen. It will provide you with the missing pieces of information. Will it impress? Surprise? Read (and listen to) what he had to say about TRUE CREATIVITY and, please let us know your thoughts.

Question: What is true creativity? And how is it different from that which is celebrated in popular culture?

KRISHNAMURTI: most creativity, as we call it, is man-made. That is, this creation takes from the known. Right? The known. The great musicians, Beethoven, Bach and so on, it is from the known they act. And the writers, philosophers and so on, also have read, accumulated, developed their own style and so on, always moving, or acting or writing from that which has been accumulated, known. And this we call, generally, creativity. Now is that really creative?…Or is there a different kind of creativity which is born out of the freedom from the known? …Because when we paint, write, create a marvellous structure out of stone, it is the accumulated knowledge, whether in the scientific field or in the world of art, human art, there is always this sense of carrying from the past to the present. Or imagination, romantic, factual, maudlin and so on. Is there creativity, something totally different from this activity that we call generally creativity?…

While filming our protagonist and internationally renowned artist Luc Bihan, we came across this very interesting episode on Luc’s own hand-made Udu drums. The episode is not included into the documentary, yet it is educational and entertaining at the same time. Watch this exclusive Behind-the-scenes and leave your comment here.

Do you agree or disagree with Mike Robin who states that art can help you find what you are looking for?

‘Words feel very poor quality compared to the ability to communicate through shape or through colour’, admits Oriel Varga. I tend to agree with that, but… what about literature and especially poetry, another form of creativity?

‘Through art things come out. It’s a positive energy that art creates and that’s why we can never get enough of it. But art can be challenging too, some art can be shock’, believes Domenic Mastropietro. What is the purpose of art from your point of view? With so many things happening to humanity lately, do you think shocking art is still relevant?

Marina Burke https://lucdoc.com/marina-burke/ https://lucdoc.com/marina-burke/#respond Tue, 26 Jan 2021 10:30:19 +0000 https://lucdoc.com/?p=2572
Marina Burke confesses it is much easier for her to paint someone she meets for the first time and it gets harder if the person is well-known. However, her best and most significant piece is a portrait of her favourite writer Vladimir Nabokov. Does an artist need to rely on the exchange of energy with the subject in order to create? What is your experience with that, if any?

Edward Baranosky thinks EVERYONE can be an artist, absolutely. How come? Do you believe you need a talent first? Or would you rather agree that talent is overrated?

Sheri Cohen is convinced that if art didn’t exist the world would not exist. Really? Would you rather say that art is useless/pointless in these times?

What is STILLNESS and why do artists (and so many of us) need it? https://lucdoc.com/what-is-stillness-and-why-do-artists-and-so-many-of-us-need-it/ https://lucdoc.com/what-is-stillness-and-why-do-artists-and-so-many-of-us-need-it/#comments Thu, 17 Dec 2020 03:28:50 +0000 https://lucdoc.com/?p=2482 What is STILLNESS and why do artists (and so many of us) need it? There is a very interesting article titled If You Want To Be An Artist, Understand Loneliness. It claims the state of loneliness is necessary for the artist to develop, – “…many artists… require a measure of solitude. To harvest the deepest of our creative proclivities and innermost expressions…” The artists’ need for loneliness is really a need for stillness. The stillness of mind is extremely hard to achieve with our busier than ever lives.

Lack of stillness in modern human life makes the drama of Luc universal. In a publication called How Being Busy Means Not Being Creative we read, – “when your mind is on the dozen other things you need to get done, you’re locked out from that creative zone… Busyness is antithetical to Creativity…” Busyness is everywhere in modern human existence. We barely find time for reading a book, writing a letter, getting together with friends, gazing at stars and flowers, simply BEING in quiet and creative mode. Modern communication technology is helping us stay in touch globally, yet separating people living close by. There is a lack of stillness in people’s lives, especially in large populous cities.

Do you feel a lack of stillness sometimes? With the global pandemics situation, did it change a lot in your BEING? Do you find more time for creativity than before? Please kindly leave your comment here.

Thank you.

– Marina
