I love the sencerity of Michael, his attitude and passion. But video fragments of different forms of art that accompany the Michael’s story is beautiful and inspiring. Art is a happy part of our life and this is the reason that it occupies all our emotions and let us be ourselves.

Would you agree that art, or better say, creativity is a form of meditation? And that may be the way to freedom, to liberation. Here is a short excerpt from the transcription of one of J. Krishnamurti’s conversations, ‘…meditation is the understanding of life, which is to bring about order. Order is virtue, which is light, which is not to be lit by another, however experienced, however clever, however erudite, however spiritual. Nobody on earth or in heaven can light that, except yourself, in your own understanding and meditation. And to die to every thing within oneself, for love is innocent and fresh, young and clear.’

Comment on What is STILLNESS and why do artists (and so many of us) need it? by Mila Bezpala-Brown https://lucdoc.com/what-is-stillness-and-why-do-artists-and-so-many-of-us-need-it/#comment-11 Tue, 09 Feb 2021 00:11:25 +0000 https://lucdoc.com/?p=2482#comment-11 I took time to answer this questions and I questioned why I question these questions, LOL

I guess to me stillness has many forms and layers. It is like time – the moment can mean eternity and in reverse. I too seek stillness amidst the busyness of every day. And I too need a day to recover after a day of events and meetings and volumes of interactions. But also I noticed that at times I do not need that much of loneliness, I just as you pointed out need a moment of stillness. To me I noticed the quality of that stillness is really what matters. And frankly it doesn’t have to be still at all. It’s the affect and the richness of the experience that goes deep inside and reaches the very depth of your soul. Whether it is a 10 minutes walk to the shore and getting lost in the sound of waves or simply the little voice of your daughter in car’s hands free as you are going 60 miles an hour on a highway – you know it has the same affect! Your time stops and you disappear in stillness, and there suddenly you see, you hear noise-free-of-the-world-around-you the most important thing! The most important realization! The most valuable “it”! The creativity is merely the search for “it” stripping all the noise. I don’t think you physically need to be still or lonely to find the stillness, nah-ah. It’s not about that. Because you can zone out painting the best work of art among the most noise and distraction when you see “it”, when you know the most important thing that matters!

And like a vessel first our soul needs to be filled. To contain the wealth and breadth of these observations and experiences the vessel gets narrow leaving only small opening at the top. But to produce and to be precise with the message that is your own to give to people and others that care, first we – the artists must fill up that vessel. We must accumulate that emotional knowledge to the extent it can no longer be contained, to the extent that we need to scream… I too know Luc, today is his birthday by the way. Oh, Luc has so many vessels, his soul is so full.. he is so ready that he can water a whole garden on that island he is escaping to!

Comment on What is STILLNESS and why do artists (and so many of us) need it? by Carolyn Pacj https://lucdoc.com/what-is-stillness-and-why-do-artists-and-so-many-of-us-need-it/#comment-9 Sat, 06 Feb 2021 18:54:19 +0000 https://lucdoc.com/?p=2482#comment-9 I’m an artist, oil painter. I’ve taught classes at Lucsculpture. As I get older I find increasingly the need for quiet stillness to be simply in touch with myself but have always found connection in these moments. They are an integral part of the act of creativity. Thank you for this Marina.

Making art helped me find peace and balance when I needed most. When I watched this video, I couldn’t help but think of Picasso’s quote: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” I think Mike’s words provide an answer to the question of how to find one’s inner lost artist.

Stillness is necessary for listening and understanding myself but should be dosed in accordance to a personality’s type. Of course, the year of the pandemic changed my being and highlighted the need of the balance between stillness and movement (in self-development). It’s not an easy task to find such balance. For me, minimalist art as the harmonizing medium helps in getting stillness, because minimalism cuts off insignificant and forces to focus on the main thing.

Agree to some extent Vita. Creativity seems to be essential in human life. From building a home and cooking a meal to the art we find in museums and books… But do we observe it in animal world?

Indeed: there is no life without creativity. This is applicable to all kinds of art – not only to visual arts.
